Role Description The Assistant Dentist will support the lead dentists in delivering high-quality clinical care to patients in a full-time, on-site role based in Pune City. Daily responsibilities include assisting during dental procedures, preparing and maintaining treatment rooms, and ensuring instruments and materials are properly sterilized and organized. The role involves taking patient histories, helping with examinations, performing routine chairside procedures as permitted, and supporting diagnosis and management of oral lesions, orofacial pain, and related conditions under supervision. The Assistant Dentist will educate patients on oral hygiene, post-treatment care, and preventive measures, while maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to infection control and safety protocols. Collaboration with the dental team, clear communication with patients, and a professional, empathetic manner are essential.
Qualifications
- Clinical dentistry skills, including chairside assistance, basic diagnostic support, and familiarity with routine and advanced dental procedures.
- Knowledge of oral pathology, orofacial pain management, pre-cancerous and cancerous lesion evaluation, and interpretation of dental radiographs.
- Competence in infection control, sterilization techniques, and safe handling of instruments and materials in a clinical setting.
- Strong patient communication, counseling, and education skills, with the ability to explain procedures and preventive care clearly and respectfully.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a dental team, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate and organized clinical documentation.
- BDS degree or equivalent dental qualification from a recognized institution; valid registration with the appropriate dental council or regulatory body.
- Prior experience as an Assistant Dentist or Dental Intern in a clinical environment is preferred but not strictly required for highly motivated early-career professionals.
